I dont know what to title my posts.

I am glad some of you like reading my blog. I think it's a little boring. Its been a whirlwind of a week. The biopsy went well. I didn't get the results yet but they could only get 2 of the three growths they saw. When they biopsied the one, it shrunk so the doctor thought it was just a syst with liquid inside. The other one they got a good specimen on and the 3rd one they said was too small and too close to my major artery so they didnt attempt it. Which I glad about, because the nicked my trachea with the numbing medicine and that was painful enough. I am still a tiny bit sore in the neck area, and I should get results next week.

On to the house. Our builder picked 3 out of 8 that he thought would be the best bets for us. We like them all, with one in particular being our favorite. Its smaller, but still nice. I would love it. I did post a link to a few on my facebook page, one of  the final 3 is in that bunch. Nothing else really to report on the house front. Our due diligence period is over, so I guess we settle in July, which isn't too far off. Getting excited.. We better get Arch street ready to be put up for sale.. I wouldn't mind renting it out, but not sure if it would work. I guess we will see where we are at once we apply for the construction loan. Still a lot to do. But, we aren't too stressed yet.

back to the drawing board.......

We met with the builder Thursday night so he could present us with our first estimate. We learned two things. 1. we definitely love this builder and will be choosing him. 2. we need to choose a new house plan.
When all was said and done, this plan was over 3100 square feet, and over 5000 square feet including the basement and garage. Just too big and expensive. As much as we were loving this plan, there are many more out there we like. I have always been drawing houses, even as a kid, so its exciting for me to start over so to speak. The groundwork is laid and all the prices per sq. feet have already been made... its just a matter of finding a home smaller, that we love and that will fit better into our budget. Marcus and I did have a good laugh about it last night, we certainly have some expensive tastes... maybe we will skip the 1,300.00 stained glass window... or the 6 interior wood pillars. Anyway.. this is all part of the process so we are told. The builder was great about it, said that we can send him a bunch of new plans, and he can help us sort things out. I asked if it was normal for people to be surprised by the original estimate... he said it happens all the time, which made us feel alittle better. I must admit he really had everything in the estimate we wanted, but I guess 45 + windows is a bit much! And yeah, we will still be doing the dog mud room with dog drinking bowl on the floor... but maybe we can do without the built in bench flanked by 2 glass cabinets. Ahhh... its fun! or funny! I will have fun spending the weekend looking at plans, and drawing plans. I tend to get an idea of if I really like the plan, when I start to draw it.
I have only shared this blog with about a dozen friends/family as of now, but I would love any feedback. Maybe I should do a contest and you can all vote on which house house you like. I saw a neat 1920's bungalow in the one book tonight, Marcus said he didnt want a 1920's house though... bummer.. They only cost like 3000.00 back then, for the whole kit!

A little side note, keep me in your prayers Tuesday, I am having a biopsy done. If more cancerous nodes are discovered in my thyroid bed, I will need to have another surgery down at Jefferson. I am hoping not. As much as I love being a patient... I wasn't a big fan of Jeff. I am more of a Grandview fan! Seriously.. I love it there! But anyway, this procedure is really stressful for me, so keep me in your prayers. Thanks guys!

another month plus...

We have another month plus until settlement but things are slowly coming along. We got the appraisal back from the bank and it was all good, so we are ready to be approved on the loan front. The seller paid the EDU costs for water and sewer, so the subdivision should be complete soon. We met again with one of the builders today, our second meeting with him. So far he seems the most interested and prepared. We really like him, so lets hope his price is right. We have a meeting with a different builder Tuesday night. You would think builders would be more eager to want to build you a home, but it's been harder then we thought. Either they are all pretty busy, or they know I am high maintenance when it comes to this house.  Marcus and I both are learning how to compromise. I am having a hard time with the windows.. see Arts and Crafts windows are very specific, and well I guess expensive. So it's been a little challenging, since I had set my window preferences so high. Marcus had to make a tough decision on whether he wanted a wood burning fireplace, or gas. I never had a fireplace growing up but he did, and has fond memories of the sitting in front of his wood burning fireplace and all that goes along with it. I guess it's similar to grilling with gas or charcoal, we prefer charcoal. This afternoon I took my sister in law up to the site, I love driving up there... and I was happy to see the seller mowed! Well I guess that's a good update for now... Anyone have an opinion on countertops?
